Daryll’s grandmother Annie was born at 14 Quay Street, on either 19 or 26 February 1883.  John and Ann’s second daughter, Emily was born on 1 April 1884.  We haven’t been able to find a birth certificate for Annie, but we have located two different baptism records in the register for St John’s Church, Manchester, with different birth dates on each.  This could be because possibly Annie may have been very poorly at birth, and not expected to live, hence the quick first baptism, followed by the other when she had recovered.

There is a sad end to the marriage between John and Ann – she died on 5 May 1901, at the Royal Infirmary in Manchester, her death being recorded as ‘accidental death from burns’.  Here is a copy of her death certificate.  There was a coroner’s inquest, and we have searched the local papers from the time, to see if we can find a report about the incident, but no luck yet.  Ann is buried in Plot G, grave 1150 in Weaste Cemetery, Salford.
