This is a photograph of Albert Bailey, working in Pollock’s Pipeworks, Ancoats, Manchester.  It appeared in the Manchester Guardian on Wednesday July 18 1951.  The caption underneath the photograph read ‘Clay pipes made by  a Manchester firm which still produces 500 different moulds.  They are sent to all parts of the world and range in price from 6d to 6s 6d.’  (2½ pence to 32½  pence)
